Unlike other direct-care occupations, particularly certified nursing aides\nand home health aides, there are no federal training standards for PCAs. Consequently, training\nstandards for PCAs, where they exist at all, vary by state and by program, potentially leading to\nsignificant differences in the level of preparedness of these workers across the country.\nThe Association for Home and Hospice Care received a grant to develop a comprehensive PCA\ntraining program in order to add to the qualified and trained workforce available in North Carolina.\nComForCare Home Care is 1 of 13 home care agencies in North Carolina selected to implement this\n\nPCA pilot training program which offers standardized training and competency certification for in-\nhome personal care aides. The certificate earned upon successful completion is issued by the\n\nAssociation for Home and Hospice Care of North Carolina and will be recognized statewide upon\nPilot Project completion in the fall of 2026. This certificate will help participants seek employment\n\nBenefits of this program:\n\n• The primary benefit of this program is the educational credential and training received by\nParticipant, which Participant may use to seek employment with any home care agency in\nNorth Carolina.\n\nYour safety is our top priority.
