Choose the date window

Write down whether the backfill follows a publisher date, an observation date, or another agreed definition. Confirm that the requested history exists for the sources you care about.

Define what counts as one record

A board page, an employer posting, and a deduplicated role can produce different totals. Pick a counting rule and retain the source URL and scope used to create the result.

Make the job restartable

Use bounded batches and persist a checkpoint only when the eventual delivery contract supplies a stable continuation value. Record completed and failed portions so operators can resume safely.

Inspect overlaps and missing values

Review duplicate roles, incomplete descriptions, uncertain locations, and null compensation. Keep original values and source context where practical.

Confirm rights and retention

Before production use, agree the permitted purpose, redistribution rights, attribution, and retention window. This planning guide does not grant access to data.

Turn the guide into an evaluation brief

List the sources, markets, fields, and intended use you need to assess.
